Description
This is a row of five cottages, now functioning as four dwellings, likely built in the late 18th century and altered over time. The cottages are constructed from uncoursed killas rubble with granite dressings, and No. 5 features large quoins. They have a slate roof and a rectangular plan, which includes two pairs of single-depth, single-fronted units added to the right of an earlier building.
The cottages are two storeys high. Nos. 1 and 2, along with Nos. 3 and 4, are pairs that share doorways flanked by small 4-pane sashed windows. The doorway of No. 2 has been altered to a window. Each pair features large rectangular lintels above the doorways and similar small windows on the first floor. No. 5, which is two bays wide, has a doorway on the left and a small 4-pane sashed window on the right, with a similar window above, offset to the left. All these openings are accented with large quoins and the ground floor openings have large lintels. The building has two chimney stacks on the ridge. The rear of the cottages has been altered and includes various modern additions.
