Description
Trelowen is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century and was remodeled in the 19th century. The building is constructed from uncoursed killas rubble with a roughcast facade, which was previously slate-hung, and features a slurried slate roof with brick chimneys. The layout consists of three units, with an outshut at the rear of the left half and a modern flat-roofed addition next to it.
The house is two storeys high and has three bays, arranged symmetrically. The central doorway is protected by a modern gabled porch. On the ground floor, there are low 4-pane sashed windows with margin panes, while the first floor has 4-pane sashes, with the central window being narrower. All windows are flanked by modern pseudo-shutters, and there are projected gable chimneys. At the rear, the outshut features a rounded corner and includes four windows, one of which is a 4-pane sash on the first floor.
Inside, the outshut contains an early 18th-century doglegged staircase with a closed string, square newels, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail.
