Description
The building formerly known as The Princes Plume Public House is now a private dwelling. It likely dates from the early to mid 18th century and has been altered over time. Constructed from large random rubble with massive irregular quoins, it features a slate roof. The structure is U-shaped, consisting of a three-unit main range with two unequal rear wings.
The building stands two storeys high and has three wide bays that are symmetrical. It has a narrow central doorway with a panelled door, flanked by two square six-pane sashed windows on the ground floor. Above these are low six-pane sashes, and there is a four-pane sash above the door. All these openings are framed with large irregular quoins, and the ground floor windows have massive lintels. Beneath the right-hand window, there are remains of a two-light mullioned cellar window. The building features gable chimneys, and the sides and rear are slurried, with gable chimneys on both wings. The interior has not been inspected. It is noted that the building is said to have ceased functioning as a public house in 1911.
