GV II
School and integral school master's house, now a private house. Built in 1856. Local slate rubble. Slurried scantle slate roof with gabled ends. Slate rubble axial stack at the juction of the 2 ranges. Plan: The school room is the main range to the right, probably originally a hall open to the roof. The school master's house is the short cross-wing at the left-hand end; it has a porch at the front in the angle with the main range to the right. There is an axial stack at the junction of the 2 ranges. In circa late C20 the building was converted into a private house and a floor was inserted into the open hall of the schoolroom. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1:3 window front. The main schoolroom range to the right has 3 tall window openings each with a ground and first floor late C20 casement with glazing bars. The gabled projecting cross-wing to the left is the former school master's house with 2-light casement with glazing bars in the original segmental arched openings on the ground and first floor of the gable end. In the angle to the right a projecting single storey stone rubble gable porch with a pointed arch doorway and a grouted scantle slate roof. Over the ridge at the centre of the main range there is a wooden bellcot, square on plan, with wooden louvered sides and a tiled pyramidal roof. The rear elevation was not inspected. Interior was not inspected.
