Description

The School House is a building that originally served as a school and the school master's residence, constructed in 1856. It is made of local slate rubble and features a slurried scantle slate roof with gabled ends. The building has a slate rubble axial stack at the junction of its two ranges. The layout includes the main schoolroom on the right, which was likely an open hall, and the school master's house in a short cross-wing on the left, complete with a porch at the front where the two sections meet. In the late 20th century, the building was converted into a private house, and a floor was added to the open hall of the schoolroom.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical window arrangement of 1:3. The main schoolroom range has three tall window openings, each fitted with late 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. The former school master's house on the left features two-light casements with glazing bars in original segmental arched openings on both floors of the gable end. There is a projecting single-storey stone rubble gable porch with a pointed arch doorway and a grouted scantle slate roof at the angle to the right. At the center of the main range, there is a wooden bellcot with a square plan, featuring wooden louvered sides and a tiled pyramidal roof. The rear elevation and interior were not inspected.
