Description
Paradise Cottage is a cottage dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of slate rubble with a scantle slate roof covered in slate tiles and red clay ridge tiles. A brick gable end stack, partly rebuilt, is visible on the right-hand side.
The cottage was originally planned as a single-depth, two-room structure, with a central entrance and a heating stack for each room. A single-storey extension was added to the rear, to the left and centre, in the mid to late 20th century.
The front of the cottage presents a symmetrical three-window facade. The windows have slate sills and wooden lintels. The first floor has a 19th-century 16-pane two-light casement in the centre, flanked by two 20th-century four-pane casements. On the ground floor are two larger 20th-century four-pane sashes, and a central doorway with a gabled porch featuring slate sides and a 20th-century glazed door. The rear elevation includes a 19th-century casement window on the first floor, and a roughcast 20th-century extension with a flat roof. The interior of the cottage was not inspected.
