Description

The tombchest, located 20 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St Denis, was erected in 1846 in memory of Mary Nowell, the widow of the Reverend Cradock Nowell, who passed away in the same year, and their eldest son, Thomas, who died in 1851. It is made of slate and features a rectangular shape with a lid. The chest is decorated with incised pilaster strips, and the lid is inscribed with both upper and lower case serif lettering.
