Description
Camelot Restaurant, formerly known as Alverne House, is an 18th-century building located on Alverton Street in Penzance. It is constructed from granite ashlar and features a slurried slate half-hipped roof. The building has one string course and long and short quoins, with flat arches and relief keystones. A modillioned eaves cornice adds to its architectural detail. The structure is two storeys tall with a semi-basement and includes five sash windows with glazing bars.
On the first floor, there is a central bow window above the doorway, which is framed by plastered architraves, a frieze, and a cornice supported by consoles. Access to the doorway is via a flight of granite steps. To the left, there is a stuccoed lower section that spans two storeys, topped with a slate hipped roof. This section features a converted sash window with margin lights on the first floor, a three-light casement on the second floor, and a carriageway on the ground floor.
