Description
The Varcoe monument is a headstone located in the churchyard about 10 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St Dennis. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of granite and slate. The headstone is rectangular in shape, featuring a cornice and a central swept necking that leads to a flat ball finial, with scrolled flat finials on each side. There is an inset oval slate inscription plate with recessed spandrels, displaying well-crafted lettering and verses dedicated to John Varcoe, who passed away in 1826.
