Description
The Vinicombe headstone, located about 4 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, is a late 18th-century memorial made of slate. It is a very tall segmental-headed shouldered headstone, featuring a Greek key border and an urn carved in relief at the top. The inscription commemorates John Vinicombe, who died in 1790, along with other family members. The carving and lettering are of high quality, and the stone's unusually large size, measuring over 2 metres, makes it a particularly notable feature of the churchyard.
