Description
Berry Cottage is a cottage, likely dating from the 18th century, situated adjoining a rear wing of Berry House. It possesses group value with Berry House and Wardles. The cottage is colourwashed and rendered, with a slate roof and gabled ends. It features an axial stack with a brick shaft. The plan suggests it may have originally been the inner room of a three-room and passage house, with Wardles adjoining to the right. The building has been significantly remodelled. The left-hand end features a projecting first floor above a former carriage entrance which opened onto the courtyard behind Berry House. The front has an asymmetrical two-window design. A four-panel front door is located on the right, while a carriage entrance with timber infill and an arched top is on the left. The window openings are likely from an 18th century origin, but have been remodelled, containing 16-pane boxed sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
