Description
A pair of townhouses, dating to circa 1810, now used as offices. The lower level is constructed of granite ashlar, while the upper levels are of coursed local stone with granite dressings and a stuccoed parapet. The roof is natural slate, with brick stacks at the left end and a rendered chimney on the right.
These double-depth-plan houses are mirror images of each other, forming a symmetrical 3-window facade. The central pair of doorways are round-headed and slightly projecting, with granite pilasters and a moulded hood that connects to a mid-floor string course. The doorways are flanked by original hornless sash windows with glazing bars, set within shallow segmental arches featuring projecting key blocks. The interior of the building has not been inspected, but is likely to contain features of interest.
Wrought-iron railings border the entrance steps and extend over the forecourt walls, with steps leading down from each end. The railings are features within the building’s setting.
