Description

The Tithe Barn, now a hall and house, dates to the late 15th or early 16th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rubble with limestone dressings, featuring a brick ridge stack and a pantile roof. The rectangular barn has a single-depth plan and is single-storied, with a two-story cottage at the right-hand end. There are eight windows across the front, plus a three-window range at the cottage end. The right-hand elevation incorporates a 17th-century window with a Tudor arch and a blocked doorway. A blocked entrance, likely original, is situated in the centre of the front. There is a wide doorway with a concrete lintel to the left, and three tall, narrow 20th-century windows to the left of the blocked entrance. The cottage section has windows with chamfered dressings, a door with a moulded frame, and a three-light stone mullioned window to the left. Inside, the barn features a 10-bay roof with collar-beam trusses and curved wind braces.
