Description

Twyford House, now a college, was built in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with decorative ashlar stacks to the gable, and has a single-pile roof. The house follows a double-depth plan and is in a late Georgian style. It is three storeys high with a seven-window front. The symmetrical front features a cornice and parapet, and has three-light, full-height bow windows on either side of a pedimented doorcase. The doorcase is topped with Doric columns, leading to a semicircular doorway, fanlight, and six-panel door. The windows are plain and have 6/6-pane sashes. The interior has been extensively remodelled, but retains a framed newel stair at the rear of a central hall.
