Description
Penlea House is a late 18th-century house, now converted into flats, located on High Street, Shirehampton, Bristol. It is a double-depth plan building in a mid-Georgian style, with roughcast render and limestone dressings, topped by a double-pile, coped gable pantile roof. The symmetrical front elevation has a cornice and parapet. Prominent features include two-storey canted bays flanking a flat canopy supported by slender Doric columns. These bays shelter a six-panel front door with a rectangular overlight composed of round and diamond glazing bars. The upper floor has tripartite windows, and a six-pane sash window is situated between them. The remaining windows are 20th-century replacements. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
