Description
The Statue of Alfred Fagon, created in 1987 by David Matusa for the Friends of Fagon Committee, is a Grade II listed structure.
This statue features a bronze bust of Alfred Fagon, which stands 70 centimeters tall and is mounted on a polished black marble pedestal that is 131 centimeters high. The bust depicts Fagon from the waist up, with his left hand extended and his index finger pointing upwards. The artist's signature can be found on the back of the bust. The front face of the pedestal, which faces north-east, bears an inscription that reads: ALFRED FAGON/ 1937 – 1986/ POET PLAYWRIGHT ACTOR/ “THROUGH GRIEF TO HAPPINESS”/ ERECTED/ ON THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY/ OF HIS DEATH,/ 29 AUGUST 1987,/ BY THE FRIENDS OF FAGON.
