Description
The Nonconformist Mortuary Chapel at Arnos Vale Cemetery, built around 1840 by Charles Underwood, features a basement made of pennant rubble and is constructed from limestone with a slate roof. The chapel has an open plan and is a single storey above a vault. Access is provided by steps with plinths on either side, leading up to a simple Greek Ionic tetrastyle portico that has engaged antae, banded rustication, and a plain architrave around the doorway. The entrance includes a 20th-century door and a window with a rectangular overlight. The sides of the chapel are plain and unpierced, while the rear has three tall rectangular windows separated by pilasters. There is also a 20th-century single-storey addition made of Portland stone beneath the rear window. The interior was remodeled around 1950.
