Description
The Tomb of the Rev. Walter Whiting, who died in 1885, is located in Arnos Vale Cemetery. This Grade II listed structure features a canopy tomb made of Pennant stone, topped with a marble inscription panel designed to resemble an open book. The canopy is supported by four Greek Doric columns with a segmental pediment.
Historically, Whiting served as a chaplain in the East India Company and participated in various battles. His wife, Mary, passed away in 1862 due to a low fever contracted while helping the poor. The tomb is listed for its architectural and historic significance.
