Description

A terrace of fifteen houses built around 1840 in Cotham, Bristol. The houses are constructed of stucco with limestone dressings, and have party wall stacks. They are designed with a double-depth plan and are built in a late Georgian style. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and has a single-window range. The terrace is formally designed and articulated by pilasters to a cornice and parapet. Steps lead up to raised areas above projecting basements, and the front doors are left-hand, with rectangular overlights and six-panel doors. A full-width continuous tented verandah runs along the front, supported by wrought-iron stanchions and railings. The windows are primarily 6/6-pane sashes with fine glazing bars, although the basement windows are a mix of sashes and casements. The right-end house is stepped back, with additional windows on its left-hand side, and an entrance on its right return. The interior has not been inspected. The terrace is part of a matching set with numbers 13-27 Fremantle Road.
