Description

This property comprises three houses built around 1850 on Cotham Road, Bristol. The houses are constructed from limestone ashlar with a roof covered in interlocking tiles. They are arranged as a double-depth plan and are in an Italianate style.

The group presents a symmetrical appearance with three gables, the central one set back, and two-storey entrance blocks recessed at each end. The facade features banded rustication to a plat band, rusticated first-floor pilasters, an attic sill band, and guilloche barge-boards. The entrances, located in the end return blocks and the centre, have semicircular-arched doorways with imposts and keys to six-panel doors incorporating a round panel in the middle. The flanking gables incorporate square ground-floor bays with parapets, and paired semicircular-arched windows with moulded arches and keys to plate-glass sashes. The middle gable has paired ground-floor windows extending to the ground level, with a doorway on the right. Smaller, similarly styled windows are present on the first floor and in the attic, each with a single vertical glazing bar. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
