Description

Two obelisks and perimeter walls mark the entrance to Cotham Park, dating from the 18th century. The obelisks are made of coursed squared Lias stone with some Pennant and vermiculated limestone ashlar. Each obelisk is square and approximately 10 meters high, featuring a small panelled plinth and alternating bands of coursed stone and vermiculated blocks leading to a pyramidal top. The squared rubble walls extend approximately 30 meters on either side. These structures originally marked the entrance to Cotham Park, which was demolished in 1846.
