Description

The obelisk on Purdown, located approximately 450 meters west of Stoke Park House, was built in 1762 by Thomas Wright and constructed by Thomas Paty. It is made of limestone ashlar and features a moulded pedestal with a base for the shaft, which is now missing its top. The obelisk originally had a Latin inscription commemorating the death of the Duke of Beaufort's niece.
