Description
The St Swithun's War Memorial, located within the grounds of St Swithun’s Church in Bournemouth, is made of limestone. It features a hooded Calvary cross atop a tapering square shaft. Above the figure of Christ on the cross arms, the letters "INR" are carved in raised lettering. The shaft rises from an octagonal plinth that sits on a single-stepped base.
The plinth bears an incised dedication that reads "1914/ WE THANK/ THEE/ O GOD/ 1919." One side of the plinth is inscribed with "1939/ (NAMES)/ 1945," while the other faces list the names of those who fell in the First World War.
