Description
The Hairdressing Department of Bournemouth College of Technology is a picturesque Italianate villa built around 1865. It has three storeys and a basement, featuring polychromatic brickwork. The walls are made of grey brick with red bands, decorative diapering, and relieving arches. There are string-courses of red and yellow brick that include patterns in blue, and the voussoirs are in red, yellow, and blue. The building has an asymmetrical design, with a tower on the east topped by a green copper hipped roof with a flat top. To the south, there are two gables, and a two-storey bow projects from the gable on the west side. The eaves overhang, and the roof is covered with slate. A staircase projection has been added to the north side.
