Description

This is a letter box located at the junction with Grove Road, dating from 1872. It was designed by Penfold and manufactured by Cochrane and Co of Dudley, Worcestershire. The letter box is made of red painted cast iron and has a hexagonal shape. It features Queen Victoria's monogram below the collection-time plate and the Royal coat of arms above the posting slit. The box is topped with an ogee cap that has an acorn finial, and it is of the smaller Penfold type.
