Description

This is a mid-18th century house located on St James’s Close in Poole. It was formerly known as No.6 West Street. The house is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork with painted stone dressings, featuring gauged brick arches and a brick gable stack. The roof is covered in pantiles. The building follows a single-depth plan with a rear outshut.

It has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a three-window front. The façade includes a painted plinth and bracketed eaves cornice. The left-hand doorway features pilasters and a segmental-arched pediment, above which is a recessed three-light overlight. A six-panel door is set within the surround. The windows are 6/6-pane and 3/6-pane sashes with thick bars, all with gauged brick flat keyed arches. Two dormers, dated to the mid-20th century, are gabled. Basement level has two cambered-arched openings. The interior of the house has not been inspected, but is reported to contain good original features.
