Description

These are a group of four flats, originally a late 17th/early 18th century building now known as Dutch Cottages or Haven Cottages, situated on Mudeford Quay. The front is stuccoed, with the southern end constructed of tarred brick. The roof is tiled, with stone verges on the east side and coped gable ends. A large external chimney stack is centrally positioned on the east wall. The building includes a gabled cross wing at the rear and two hipped dormers on the western facade. It has two and a half stories and six windows, including one in an angled bay on the north side. Most first-floor windows are late 18th/early 19th century casements. The ground-floor windows are early sash windows, featuring boxed frames and thick glazing bars. There are three doors; the northern door has six panels, with the top four glazed, and is sheltered by a wooden porch. The Haven Inn and Nos 1 to 4 Haven Cottages form a group with Little Haven, Gentle Calm, and the adjoining cottage, all of which are of local interest.
