Description
This is a terrace of four houses and shops, built in 1819 and altered in the 20th century. The buildings feature Flemish bond brickwork, with all but 143 High Street painted. They have brick party wall chimney stacks and a tiled roof, following a double-depth plan.
The terrace stands three storeys high. The front elevation, from left to right, consists of three bays for 143, followed by two bays each for 145, 147, and 149. There is a cill band between the first and second floors, a cornice, and a parapet. The original windows include six-over-six-pane sash windows and three-over-three sashes on the first and second floors of 143 and 147, respectively, while 145 features plate-glass sash windows on the second floor. 149 High Street has two-over-two pane sashes on both the first and second floors. The ground-floor shop fronts have been altered in the 20th century. The interiors of the ground floors have also been changed.
