Description
This early 19th-century building was originally a house and has since been converted into commercial premises with living accommodation above. It is constructed of painted brick with gauged brick dressings, rendered chimney stacks, and a tiled roof.
The building has a double-depth plan and presents a three-storey, three-window facade. A six-panel door, set within a semi-circular headed doorcase with panelled reveals, attached columns, and an open pediment with a dentilled cornice, is located on the left-hand side of the ground floor, above it a radial fanlight. An early 20th-century shop front now occupies the ground floor, incorporating pilasters, console brackets, a fascia, an awning box, and central modern doors flanked by large modern windows. The first-floor windows have gauged brick flat arches and six-over-six-pane sash windows, while those on the second floor are sash windows with three-over-three-pane glazing. A cornice runs above the windows, topped by a low parapet.
The interior is believed to include a rear dogleg staircase with column newels, stick balusters, and curtail steps. The first floor contains an early 19th-century marble fireplace with corner roundels. The ground floor has undergone extensive alteration.
