Description
Alpine Cottage is a wide-frontage house located on Beechan Cliff Road, likely originally two separate houses, dating from the early 19th century. The building features ashlar stonework with an asbestos-cement slate roof at the front and a pantile roof at the rear. It stands two storeys high and has four windows with plain sashes, including balconettes on the first floor. The ground floor is blank in the second bay, while the third bay contains a four-panel, part-glazed door that is sheltered by a wide gabled hood with a barge-board. Above the door is a plastered cartouche displaying the name "ALPINE COTTAGE." To the far right, there is a wide garage door. The exterior also boasts a moulded cornice, a blocking course, a parapet, and an ashlar stack positioned forward on the ridge to the right of the door. The rear of the house features two gables adorned with decorative barge-boards and applied timber-framing; the right side has a plain sash window leading to a balconette, while the left side has a canted two-storey bay with a plain sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
