Description

Uplands Farmhouse, now a guest house, was built in the mid-17th century, with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The west front is rendered, while the return walls are of squared and coursed rubble with stone dressings. The roof is gabled and covered in pantiles, with two central stacks built of rubble and capped with ashlar.

The house has a double-depth plan with a central staircase hall. The symmetrical west facade is three stories high and has a three-window range. A central doorway is flanked by coped gables. The windows are mostly 3-light mullioned casements with chamfered mullions, sills, and cornices, featuring small panes. A 2-light mullion window is located above the doorway. There are two sunken panels under each gable apex. The recessed doorway has a plain surround and a part-glazed plank door. Mullioned windows are also found on the return facades, each with semicircular relieving arches above the windows. The interior was not inspected.
