Description

Chewton Pack Horse Bridge is a packhorse bridge that spans the River Chew, located to the east of Chewton Keynsham. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar copings. The bridge features an inclined roadway leading up to it, with two segmental arches that are almost pointed. There are central diagonally set buttress-cutwaters with stepped masonry. A portion of the bridge is also situated in the parish of Compton Dando. It is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
