Description

The Collins Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 5 metres north-west of the tower of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of freestone. The tomb features a flat moulded slab on a frieze adorned with swags, corner balusters, and raised and fielded end and side panels that include texts. The sides are divided by fluted pilasters and it has a moulded base. The earliest legible date on the monument is for James Collins, 1794.
