Description

The Coach House is a 19th-century coach house located to the rear of Thurston House, and now used as a separate dwelling. Constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped pantile roof, the building has a five-unit plan and two storeys, with a five-window front. The south garden front features a castellated parapet. The first floor has small-paned Tudor arched windows. On the ground floor, two similar Tudor arched windows flank a 20th-century ogee arched door located to the left of centre. To the right are two wider ogee arches, one framing a 20th-century small-paned window, the other a planked door, both flanked by a Tudor arched window similar to those on the first floor. The left return, facing Linden Gardens, has a 20th-century door. The rear elevation has a coped parapet and 20th-century windows. The interior has not been inspected. The Coach House forms an interesting group with Thurston House, a villa dating back to circa 1830.
