Description
St Leonards is a detached house built around 1830, which underwent extensive alterations in the late 19th century. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a slate roof with moulded stacks at the gable ends. It has a double depth plan and stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window front. The early 19th-century design includes a coped parapet, a cornice, and a ground floor platband. To the sides are late 19th-century canted bays with first floor sill bands, flanking a former door that has been replaced by three-pane French windows with an overlight. The plate glass sash windows have stop-chamfered arrises. On the left side, there is a hip-roofed wing with a verandah supported by cast iron. The interior has not been inspected, but it was likely similar to adjacent houses, such as Southwest House and Eastcote, before being significantly altered in a typical Victorian style, reflecting the changing fashions of the 19th century.
