Description
11 and 12 Dafford's Buildings are two houses that were originally one, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with the first record of the street in 1794. The buildings are made of painted Bath limestone ashlar and have a Welsh slate roof.
The original design was a double fronted, double depth house, which has since been divided into two sections with one additional doorway. The exterior features two storeys and an attic, with a layout of two bays for each house. There is a first-floor platband and a cornice string. The windows are six-over-six sashes without architraves. Number 12 has a six-panel door with two glazed panels beneath a flat hood supported by brackets. The door for number 11 has been inserted beside this, with the hood continuing over it. The buildings have a parapet and a mansard roof, with number 11 featuring a casement dormer. Both houses have plain sash windows and share a stack with pots with the adjoining property. The rear elevation has not been seen.
The interior was inspected by Bath Council in 1983, revealing wide elm boards in the attic and an elm winder stair.
