Description
Number 14 Dafford's Buildings is a house in an informal terrace, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with its first rating recorded in 1794. The building was altered and heightened in the later 19th century. It is constructed of rendered stone, and the roof is not visible from the street.
The house has a double depth plan with a central entrance and is narrower than the other houses in the terrace, but it appears to be of the same date. The exterior features three full storeys, with the top floor being the result of the heightening. It has two bays, a platband at the first floor level, and a parapet string now at the second floor level. All windows are four-over-four late 19th century sashes; the left-hand windows are stacked above each other, while the right-hand windows are paired on the first floor, with the right-hand one above the ground floor window and the upper floor window placed centrally over the pair. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a 20th-century gabled porch. A plain parapet conceals the roof, and there are tall stacks with pots at both ends of the property. The rear elevation has not been inspected.
