Description

The Pearce Tomb, located in Abbey Cemetery, is a ledger tomb dedicated to Joseph Channing Pearce, who died in 1847 at the age of 35. It is made of polished pink Peterhead granite and is supported by four buns on a plinth of Pennant stone. The tomb is signed by "Rogers, Bath." Pearce was a surgeon from Bradford-on-Avon, known for his dedication to studying the work of God and for amassing a large collection of fossils at his residence, Montague House, in Lambridge. The tomb can be found in section I.E.1.2.3 of the cemetery.
