Description

City View is a terrace of ten houses built around 1830 on a steeply sloping site. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar and have continuous, single-pitched slate roofs, with the roofline stepping up from number 4 to number 5. There are tall, moulded stacks to the party walls, some featuring hand-thrown chimney pots.

Each house is three storeys high with a lower ground floor, and has a two-window front elevation. They are characterized by a moulded eaves cornice, second and first floor platbands, and bracketed sills, the first-floor sills being particularly wide with moulded brackets. Numbers 1, 4, and 5 have cast iron crested edges to their roofs. Each house has a bolection moulded four-panel door with a tall overlight, a cornice on consoles, and a cast iron bootscraper to the left. Number 8 formerly had sliding shutters on the ground floor. Number 10, the left-hand end house, has a triangular plan with an acute angle to its left return. The interiors have not been inspected.
