Description

A pair of houses located on Wells Road, dating from around 1820, with 20th-century additions. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate or concrete tile roof. They are two storeys high, plus a lower ground floor due to a sloping site. Each house has two windows and a plain sash window arrangement. Number 44 features a centrally positioned 19th-century door with a small window to the left, while number 46 has a 20th-century door with a similar small window. A small plinth gradually reduces to the pavement on the left side, and there is a prominent stone cyma eaves cornice with wide, coped party divisions. The rear elevation has two plain sash windows on each level. The interior has not been inspected. These houses were likely built concurrently with numbers 18-20 at the lower end of the street, displaying similar architectural details.
