Description

The King William IV Public House is a public house dating from around 1830. It is constructed of limestone ashlar or dressed stone, with some painted areas and slate roofs. The main gabled section faces south across an open yard area and features paired gables with an extended wing towards the junction with Combe Road.

The exterior has a four-window front over two storeys. The right-hand bay, located to the right of the chimneystack, is likely an addition to the original symmetrical three-bay front. All windows are plain sashes. There is a porch with square Doric columns in the second bay from the left, topped with a full entablature. The building includes a plinth, mid plat band, frieze, cornice, blocking course, and parapet with coped gables and end stacks. The road front features two gables, with a large twelve-pane sash window on the first floor and a two-light window to the left. Below is a six-panel flush door with a transom light, set under a pediment hood supported by large brackets. To the right, there is a range with twelve-pane sashes, a cavetto cornice, and a parapet. At a slight angle beyond this range is a two-storey service area, which has two blind windows above a wide garage opening. The interior has not been inspected.
