Description

The gate piers at the Sion Hill end of the entrance to Sion Hill Place are two pairs of large structures dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are made of limestone ashlar and feature block caps over wide cornices, friezes, rusticated shafts, and plinths. The second pier from the right has been rebuilt in 1993. These gate piers are part of the elaborate entrance screen to the terrace, along with the gates on Sion Hill, which highlight the status and remoteness of Pinch's terrace.
