Description
This is a group of three chest tombs dedicated to the Broadribb and Purnell families, located 1 metre east of the south aisle of the Church of St. Augustine. The tombs date from the 17th and 18th centuries, with inscriptions added in the 19th century. They are made of limestone and have a simple rectangular plan with deeply projecting slabs. The earliest tomb, dedicated to the Broadribb family, is from the 17th century and features two inscription panels with moulded surrounds on each side, a high entablature adorned with skulls at the corners, and putti in the center. The slab has cyma recta moulding.
