Description

This is a mid-18th century house, later converted into flats, with a second floor added in the early 19th century. The front of the building is three storeys and has a basement. The ground floor is rendered, the first floor is rendered, and the second floor is faced with ashlar. A large extension exists at the rear, constructed of render, reconstituted Bath Stone, and featuring a parapeted roof at the front and a flat felt roof. The front features three windows of a Roman style. The first floor has three 20th-century sash windows in splayed reveals with stone sills, likely originally with architraves. The second floor has three similar sash windows, also in splayed reveals, with splayed jambs running out at corners and stone sills. The ground floor has unequal, horned sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills, likely originally with architraves. A late 19th-century nine-pane door is set in a flat-chamfered surround with a pediment supported by unmoulded brackets, probably originally with a moulded architrave and frieze. The basement is now blocked with glass bricks, presumably concealing an earlier opening. A 20th-century rooflight is present. A moulded cornice is apparent at the original eaves of the first floor; a moulded eaves cornice and coped parapet complete the front elevation. The rear elevation now has a full-height coped parapet and a full-height, full-width 20th-century extension. The interior of the building has not been inspected. Attached to the property are wrought iron railings, a gate, and a low rendered wall.
