Description

No. 9 Lansdown Road is a house that has been converted into a shop with accommodation above. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The front, left side, and rear are constructed from limestone ashlar, while the front left features render. The building has a parapeted roof that is hipped at the front, covered with artificial slate on the front and right side, and Welsh slate on the left side. There are two ashlar stacks at the ridge and on the left slope, topped with early clay pots. At the rear left, there is a small wing with a similar roof covering.

The front elevation facing Lansdown Road is three storeys high and two windows wide. The first floor has two six-over-six sash windows on the right, featuring horns, plain reveals, and stone sills. The second floor also has two six-over-six sash windows with plain reveals and stone sills. The ground floor has a late 20th-century shopfront and a late 20th-century door providing access to the upper floor on the right, while there is a small single-storey extension on the left with a late 20th-century plate glass window. The building features a moulded eaves cornice and a coped parapet.

The left side of the building, which is partially visible, is three storeys high and has a four-window range. It includes two six-over-six sash windows in plain reveals on the left and centre left, late 20th-century French doors on the right, and a similar blind window in the centre right. The second floor has six-over-six sash windows in plain reveals with stone sills on the left and centre left, along with similar blind windows on the centre right and right. The ground floor has a single-storey extension that is blind on this side. The moulded eaves cornice and coped parapet continue from the front.

The rear elevation, which is partially visible, features a six-over-six sash window on the second floor, a plate glass sash window on the first floor, and a late 20th-century rooflight on the right slope. The interior has not been inspected.
