Description

No. 2 Lansdown Terrace is a house, now divided into flats, built in the mid-18th century. A third floor was added later, and plate glass windows were inserted in the 19th century. The front is made of limestone ashlar, while the rear features a mix of ashlar and rubble. The building has a double pile parapeted roof, which is not visible from the front, and is covered with Welsh slate at the rear. The front roof has a coped gable wall with an ashlar stack on the left, and another ashlar stack rises from the rear wall to the left. There is a staircase at the rear.

The exterior consists of four storeys and a basement, with a three-window front. On the first floor, there are three plate glass horned sashes set in splayed cyma moulded architraves, with the central window featuring a pulvinated frieze and pediment above, and lowered sills with a wrought iron balcony and stone deck. The second floor has three plate glass horned sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills. The third floor has two plate glass horned sashes in plain reveals with lowered stone sills on either side, and a similar blind window in the centre without a lowered sill. The ground floor features two plate glass horned sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills, and to the right, there is a six-panel door with flush, fielded, and glazed panels in a doorcase adorned with a Doric pilaster frieze and moulded cornice. This is accessed by two steps leading to a pennant paved crossover with a cast iron footscraper. The basement has two glass sashes in plain reveals with stone sills. A band course above the ground floor is painted with the name 'LANSDOWN TERRACE', and there is a frieze and moulded cornice, as well as a formerly moulded eaves cornice and a coped parapet. The property includes an attached pennant paved terrace with wrought iron railings featuring shaped heads in the area, and arrowhead railings on buns at the front of the terrace, along with a flight of pennant steps. The interior has not been inspected.
