Description
West House Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with an early 17th century core, featuring late 17th century and 19th century alterations and additions. The building is constructed of squared and coursed rubble with wooden lintels, some stone dressings, and a double Roman tile roof. It has an L-shaped plan and the southwest front is two storeys high with three windows. All the windows are 19th century three-light casements, except for the central upper window, which has two lights. There is a central doorway with a 20th century part-glazed door, and the farmhouse has end brick stacks as well as one stone stack on the rear wing. A ground floor window on the rear wall features a two-light ovolo mullion. The rear courtyard includes 19th century outshuts. Inside, the left-hand room on the ground floor has bar stop-chamfered beams and a large inglenook fireplace, while the right-hand room has similar beams and a smaller inglenook. Above the cross passage on the former rear wall is a two-light oak ovolo mullioned window.
