Description
15 Green Street is a terrace house that has been converted into a shop with accommodation above. It was built around 1716 and has undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a pantile roof.
The house has a narrow double depth plan with a gabled front and stands three storeys high, with four windows above the shopfront. The shopfront includes a late 19th-century hood supported by delicate brackets, while the front below has been modified in the 20th century with a plain stall-riser, plate glass, and two small panes above, along with a partly glazed door.
On the first floor, there are four windows with architrave surrounds, featuring plate glass sashes with horns, although the left-hand window is blind. A continuous cornice runs above this level. The second floor mirrors the first but has four shorter windows. There is also a cornice, a small gable, and a rubble stack that has been heightened in ashlar, complete with pots.
Green Street was laid out in 1716, and this house is likely to have been built shortly after that date.
