Description
7, 8, and 8A Green Street are shops built around 1908 by J. Foster & Sons, with No. 7 possibly retaining some earlier features. The materials include limestone ashlar for No. 7, which has a Welsh slate roof, while Nos. 8 and 8A have a timber front with their roofs not visible. The three shops are custom built in the Edwardian style.
The exterior is single storey for Nos. 8 and 8A, while No. 7 is two storeys. They were constructed as one development, featuring shopfronts separated by Corinthian pilasters. The shops have double frontages with recessed entrances and arched window heads, which include small paned glazing above the arches. There is a fascia and a dentil cornice. No. 7 has a three-window front on the first floor with nine/nine-sash windows set in architraves, along with a cornice, parapet, and a gabled roof that is at right angles to the street. Nos. 8 and 8A feature a continuous timber balustrade with turned balusters at the parapet, which extends into No. 9. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior has not been inspected.
