Description

The Oliver Public House is a former pair of houses that have been converted into a public house with accommodation above. Built in the late 18th century, it underwent significant restoration in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs and has a square block layout with a double-depth former house facing Green Street and another house backing onto the end of the terrace, now combined into one establishment.

The exterior features three storeys and attics, with six windows facing Broad Street, one at the corner, and four on Green Street, two of which are blind recesses. The windows on Broad Street are plain sashes, except for the three on the left side of the top floor, while the corner has a six-over-six window above plain six-over-six sashes on Green Street. The ground floor has a mid to late 20th-century public house front designed in a 'Georgian character' style, featuring multi-paned lights divided by pilasters, some of which are paired. The cornice, parapet, and mansard roof reflect a mid to late 20th-century style, with four flat-topped dormers on Broad Street and one on Green Street, all with six-over-six sashes and slated cheeks. There are three ashlar stacks, although most of the pots are missing. The rear elevation shows ashlar on No.1 and part rubble on No.9, with a slate mansard roof that includes two old six-over-six dormers on No.1 and a small four-over-four dormer on No.9.

The interior has been much altered on the ground floor.
