Description
This is a range of farm buildings located to the west of Upper Shockerwick Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The complex includes a barn, cart shed, shelter sheds, cattle stalls, offices, pigsties, granary, and stores. The cart shed, which has been converted into stables, was built around 1895, possibly by George and Yeates. The buildings are constructed of rubble with Cotswold stone slate roofs and double Roman tiles on the barn.
The offices are single-storey structures featuring 2- and 3-light casement windows with ovolo moulded mullions and ovolo moulded door surrounds, topped with a hipped roof. The pigsties consist of two sties located at the rear of the offices. The cart shed has six open bays supported by squared wood piers, with a rendered gable at the south end. The barn comprises five bays, and the cattle stalls at the rear of the barn include 2- and 4-light casement windows with plain mullions, three plank doors, and a raised louvred ventilation roof along the ridge. The shelter shed has a modern tiled roof and features six bays with square ashlar piers. The granary and stores have the remains of a hoist at the east end and are two storeys high.
